Tug of War

I have been going to a local drawing class over the last few months and we were asked to bring in images to draw. I decided to use a photo of herdswomen in Tibet playing a game of ‘tug of war’. The image was interesting because of their quite elaborate costumes, including their boots and the general energy they were putting into the activity. The photo is credited to Rhurbu Tashi/Xinhua and I think it was originally published in ‘China Today’.
This is my drawing;

The point of this is that there is a lot of fun to be had with manipulating drawings using ipad apps and computer programmes.

If you keep going the original idea can be stretched a long way. I mainly used IColorama , Snapseed and Leonardo.

I also taught myself how to scan it and then colour the drawing in on the computer.

  1. Those results are almost enough to make me want to play with an image manipulation program.....

    Love what you've done there Jackie!!

  2. This is very interesting indeed. I use Adobe Phtoshop a lot -but know I only tap into the surface of what is possible. Your class looks most inviting!

  3. You had a lot of fun with this image ... so many lovely variations ! ... must get my act together and learn more 'stuff' ! ;)

  4. Wow, what a lot of interesting images!

  5. A very thought provoking picture! I definitely want to get my sketchpad out and have a go. It's brilliant. Barbara xx
